Rotract is a Rotary Sponsored Service Club for young men and women aged 18 to 30.Rotaract clubs are usually Community based or University based and are sponsored by a local rotary club making them true “partners in service” and key member of Rotary family.
Young aspiring members of Rotaract Club of Soka Ikeda College not only enhance their knowledge and skills but they also attend to the demands and needs of their community through the activities of the club.
As Rotaract is a world wide organisation ,the Rotaract clubs have access to many of the resources of Rotaract International and the rotary foundation.there are more than 8000 Rotaract clubs in about 155 countries.
Rotaract club of Soka Ikeda college is college based sponsored by the Rotary club of Aarch City Madras.
Annual Report of Rotaract 2015-2016
The club members had a orientation programme on July 22nd 2015 .The Chief Guest Rtn. Solomon Victor, he addressed our rotractors about the history of rotary international, interact club of schools, rotaract club of colleges and also various innovative projects organized by rotract clubs in colleges. The Rotractors were trained in yoga practice on 29th July 2015 by Mrs. Jayanthi, Trainer in Sky Yoga.
The club was installed on 12th August 2015 by Rtn. Mythili Muralidharan, Director of District Women Empowerment, Rtn. Meena Sundar, President of Rotary Club of Aarch City, Rtn. Bhuvana, Youth Service Director Rotary club of Aarch City. The Chief Guest insisted the rotaractors to implement certain projects like human chain, lake protection and some awareness regarding spitting on the road.
PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT was taught to the rotractors on 18th August 2015, by Mr. Ron Paul, student counsellor for the past 20 years ICPF registered with Educational Charitable Society, Regional State Co-ordinator of ICPF, Tamilnadu. He delivered the speech about PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT. He encouraged the students to do SWOT analysis for themselves. He also insisted “Practice make man perfect” in his speech. Mr.WESLEY LUCAS, Director of Chennai life challenged who mainly work among the addiction students. He delivered the speech about the character of the HUMAN BEINGS. Ms. J. Flondina, Student Counselor in ICPF (Inter Collegiate Prayer Fellowship) were also one of the guest.
WOMEN SAFETY was taught to the rotractors on 26th August 2015 by Mr. Perumal, Superindent of Police, Chennai. He insisted the rotractors to safeguard themselves by learning Karatte and they should improve their brave and self confidence like Velunachiyar and Jhansi Rani and also develop good character throughout their life.
HEALTH IN YOGA was taught to the rotractors on 2nd September 2015 by Mr. Ganesh, M.Phil, He delivered the speech about FEATURES OF YOGA. He said that if any work that can be done by full concentration and involvement it is called as the yoga. Even the simple gold that can keep into the safety but internal organ in our body is valuable. So, we need to protect our internal organs too. We want to protect our human body against cancer, blood pressure by using the help of the yoga. Even the simple work of eating that can done by the full concentration, then only it give full energy to them.
Ten Rotractors from Soka Ikeda College went to the Campaign "ARPANAM" – Organ Donation Camp on 9th September 2015 at Besant Nagar Beach, Chennai. Actor Radhika was the Chief Guest of the day.
HEALTH AWARENESS seminar was taught to the rotractors by Dr.Varsha Srinivasa Prasad, M.B.B.S Graduate, DMP Pediatrician and co-ordinator for METHA children hospital. She delivered the speech about how to take care of yourself and health life for smart ladies. She said about core Life skills, Role of health, Self-awareness empathy, Critical thinking, Creative thinking, Anxiety decision making, Interpersonal relationships, Effective communication, coping with emotion, coping with stress. She elaborately explained about them. Dr. Hemchand Prasadh delivered the speech about general and hormonal health. He said that watching T.V. and mobiles are injurious to health. He also added that electronic devices will spoil our health. He said that in recent scenario thyroid gland problem is one of the big problem for women. He stated some of the symptoms of thyroid gland. They are sudden weight, tired eyes, hair fall, irregular periods and also improper diet.
BLOOD DONATION CAMP was held in our college on 2nd January 2016 on account of Dr. Daisaku Ikeda, where Dr. Prathap Kumar, Cardiologist, General Hospital. In the camp approximately 84 units of blood were collected.
