REPORT ON NSS SPECIAL CAMP 2015 – 2016

The NSS special camp was conducted from 13.06.2016 to 19.06.2016 at Alamadhi village. 30 girls along with three NSS Programme Officers attended the camp. On 13.06.2016 the camp was inaugurated at Alamadhi government higher secondary school, Alamadhi. Mrs. Sasikala Sekar, panchayat head Alamadhi village inauagurated the camp. Mr. Sekar and Mr. Johnson Kennady Asst. Head Master Alamadhi Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Alamadhi village are also other dignitaries present. Mr. Johnson Kennedy in his speech highlighted the importance of serving the society and the history of NSS. Indumathy of III B.com, NSS secretary honoured the chief guest Mrs. Sasikala Sekar. In the afternoon session NSS girls cleaned the whole campus by removing all the plastic covers and other non degradable objects.

On 14.06.2016, health camp was conducted for the school children by Dr. Archana Madhu DNB Pediatrics from Metha Hospital along with Mr. M. Nandhakumar Sr. Executive Marketing and Branding. Around 90 students were given physical examination and it was found that majority of the children had iron deficiency. On 15.06.2016, 100 saplings were planted around the Alamadhi school campus which was provided by Samarpanam foundation. On 16.06.2016, a survey was conducted on blood group identification and how often they have donated the blood was taken by our NSS students in the Alamadhi village. Awareness on blood donation and its importance was also given to the public by our NSS volunteers.

On 17.06.2016, NSS students conducted various activity classes such as English grammar, Computer basics, awareness on traffic rules regulations and blood donation were given to the school students. They also carried out a session about awareness on women's health and cleanliness. On 18.06.2016, NSS girls conducted different cultural activities for 60 orphanage children. Our NSS volunteers donated 60 long size notes, pens, erasers, 36 soaps, origami books to the orphanage children. On 19.06.2016, Valedictory function was conducted in Alamadhi government school with Asst. Head Master Mr. Johnson Kennedy as a guest. He appreciated the NSS volunteers for their selfless service. Anusha of III B.com, NSS volunteer delivered the vote of thanks.
HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMME – 06.10.2015

SELF DEFENSE USING KARATE – 15.09.2015, 22.09.2015

The self defense was taught to the students on 15th and 22nd September 2015 by Karate Masters Mr.Arun and Mr.Ganesh. The Karate masters trained the students to protect themselves from critical situations.
ENACTUS INAUGURATION – 13.08.2015

The inaugural ceremony of the Enactus Club was held on 13.08.2015. The programme commenced with the Mothersong, followed by the lighting of the traditional kuthuvilakku by the dignitaries, Ms. T.Jeeva, Enactus co-ordinator and Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce introduced the chief guest Ms.Simrat Chadha, Director and Partner of Shilpi Sharanya Handlooms and delivered the welcome address. Principal Dr.V.Renuka Devi in her Presidential address motivated the students to create their own platform for working environment and become successful entrepreneurs. She also appreciated Ms.G.Udaya IIB.Sc Mathematics and Ms.G.Rajeshwari III B.Com ISM for their successful beginning as entrepreneurs in Soka Ikeda Fashion. Ms Simrat Chadha,gave a cheerful inaugural address and shared her own life experience and challenges in administering the Hand-loom store. She highlighted the importance of the handloom products which stands as valuable treasure to maintain our traditional culture. She quoted a few life values of Dr.Daisaku Ikeda namely courage, conviction, compassion, wisdom and endurance and motivated the students to identify their unique potentials for their career development. The programme came to an end by the vote of thanks by Ms.Shankari Joint Secretary of Encatus Club.
HEALTH PROTECTION & PREVENTION THROUGH ACUPUNCTURE – 25.08.2015

The health awareness programme was conducted on 25th August 2015 by Dr.Vijayalakshmi. This activity is based on acupuncture and acupressure which helps the students to prevail over their health problems. She also gave some tips and advice to the students about health protection and prevention through acupuncture methods.
ORIENTATION PROGRAMME ON PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT – 11.08.2015

The part V activities of Soka Ikeda College of Arts & Science for Women conducted a personality development Programme on August 11th 2015 by Mr.Ram Paul - ICPF CO-Ordinator (Inter Collegiate Prayer Fellowship). From this session the students gained knowledge about self motivation and they also trained to overcome their own problems.
INAUGURATION OF NSS, RRC AND YRC (2015-2016) – 21.07.2015

Soka Ikeda College of Arts & Science for Women inaugurated the NSS, YRC, RRC cells on 21.07.2015. Dr. G. Bhaskaran, NSS Co-ordinator, University of Madras was the Chief Guest. Principal, Dr.V.Renuka Devi, NSS, RRC and YRC Programme Officers, Mrs.J.Jacklin Dayana, Mrs.R.MarySheeba, Mrs.T.S.Helen Mabel, Mrs.S.Shobana were the members present on the stage. The Programme commenced with the prayer song and the members on the stage and the student representatives of all the three wings lighted the Kuthuvillaku. Principal, Dr.V.Renuka Devi, in her welcome address insisted the importance of participation of students in the social activities like tree plantation, campus cleaning etc. Dr.G. Bhaskaran told the students, that apart from formal education, students need to learn the art of life through informal education by getting involved in extension activities like NSS, RRC and YRC. He also told the importance of learning the cleanliness, conservation of water, life orientation skills and preservation of environment. Vote of thanks was proposed by RRC President Ms.I.Parvin Begum and the programme ended with the special NSS song.
ENACTUS CLUB -17.10.2014



The ENACTUS club of Soka Ikeda College of Arts And Science For Women was inaugurated on 17th October 2014 by Mrs Vasanthi Ranganathan, Dean- Learning and Development, Asan Memorial Educational Institutions.Mrs Vasanthi Ranganathan addressed the students about women entrepreneurship and encouraged the students to develop their entrepreneurial skills and become a successful women entrepreneur in future.Mrs Anitha Nallasekaran Enactus Programme Manager South India highlighted about the preparatory steps to develop Enactus Project.
INAUGURATION OF NSS, RRC AND YRC WINGS

The NSS, RRC and YRC wings of Soka Ikeda College of Arts and Science for Women was inaugurated on 19.08.2014 at the college auditorium. The chief guest was Dr. G. Bhaskaran, Coordinator for NSS, RRC and YRC Wings, University of Madras. The chief guest Dr. G. Bhaskaran spoke about the values of NSS, RRC and YRC and their functions. He also explained the students to involve them in any one of the above activities and the uses of the credits gained by them by involving in the above extracurricular activities.
THE INSTALLATION CEREMONY OF THE SOKA ALBATROSS 2014-2015

The Installation Ceremony of the RC of "Soka Albatross" for this academic year 2014-2015 was held on 13th September 2014.Rtn. R.Tamil Selvan, District Rotaract Chairman (R-I District 3230), was the Guest of Honour. In his address he stressed on the importance of the parts played by the Rotary and Rotarians. He also spoke on women empowerment and advised the students to take Mother Theresa as their role model. Finally he told the students to try to reach the zenith of success. Rtn. K.Ganesan, President, Rotary Club of Aarch City – Madras, Mrs. Latha Ganesan,Rtn. S.Srinivasan (IPP), Director Youth Service, Rtn Easwari – Chairman Ryla, Rtn. Dr. R.Buvana, Director Community Service Development, Rtr. PHF. Arjun Raja DRR (R-I District 3230), Secretary and member in Rotary Club of Aarch City – Madras, Mrs. Kokilam Kumanan, Principal Dr. V.Renuka Devi, were the dignitaries on the stage. In their address they stressed the importance of Rotary, and appreciated the work done by the rotary which are beneficial to the society, as well as the rotaractors.
